JIM KESSLER, CBST, CMIA

Principal

Jim Kessler brings over 25 years of construction and consulting experience to the J2 Building Consultants team. As a Principal at J2 Building Consultants, Jim oversees operations in J2's western region and ensures excellence in all multifamily, commercial, retail, industrial, apartment, and condominium repair projects in Washington, Utah, and Oregon. Jim leads building envelope investigations, performs specialty tests like infrared surveys and window testing, conducts condition assessments, leads large-scale repair projects, and trains J2's project management team in all of these services.

His sense of hospitality during difficult repair projects and his passion for bringing help, hope, and happiness to each person in the buildings we treat make him a true Building Doctor. As part-owner of J2, Jim's commitment to his clients is evident, and he has made it his personal mission to contribute to the success of every aspect of J2's vision. Through his strategic implementation, daily oversight, team leadership, and navigation of J2’s most complex projects, Jim embodies each of J2's core values.

Jim’s career began in 1999, with a five-year apprenticeship program with the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union. His years working in the trades allowed him to learn hands-on skills and master project estimation, project management, and construction design. His extensive experience and unwavering dedication make Jim an invaluable asset to the J2 team.

PERSONALITY TYPE

Jim is a Mediator Type

Mediator personalities are true idealists, always looking for the hint of good in even the worst of people and events, searching for ways to make things better. While they may be perceived as calm, reserved, or even shy, Mediators have an inner flame and passion that can truly shine. Comprising just 4% of the population, the risk of feeling misunderstood is unfortunately high for the Mediator personality type – but when they find like-minded people to spend their time with, the harmony they feel will be a fountain of joy and inspiration. To Mediators, if it isn’t worth doing, it isn’t really worth doing, and this sense of moral purpose in their work colors everything from how they respond to authority to how they express it. Though the way the Mediator personality type shows through depends on the position, there are a few basic truths about what Mediators seek in the workplace: they value harmony, need an emotional and moral connection to their work, and loathe bureaucratic tedium.
